Be Of Service
Step 12: Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
Al-Anon’s Twelfth Step is about service. We strive to be of service to others through a variety of means, whether it is arriving early to set up chairs and make coffee, staying late to put away chairs and clean up, helping out at an Al-Anon function, or serving Al-Anon through the Al-Anon Information Service.
What Is Al-Anon Information Service?
Al Anon Information Services provide information about Al-Anon to the groups and to those who may wish to know more about us. Without AIS, there would be no local literature distribution, phone service, website, or other ways to share Al-Anon information with those who might need it.
We are currently in need of filling 3 positions:
AIS President – Attends AIS/LDC Board meetings; prepares meeting agendas; conducts the meetings; participates in planning and conducting AIS events. Term begins 1/1/21 and ends 12/31/23.
AIS Vice-President – Attends AIS/LDC Board meetings; helps other board members if needed; performs President’s duties in President’s absence; participates in planning and conducting AIS events. Term begins 1/1/21 and ends 12/31/23.
AIS Liaison – Attends AIS/LDC Board meetings; gives reports on Assembly, attends monthly District meetings and gives AIS report; a voting member at AWSC and a voice at Assembly meetings; services as a link between AIS, Districts in West TN area, and TN Area 52; participates in planning and conducting AIS events. About the Literature Center
Currently the Literature Center is closed.
We are so excited to announce the Grand Opening of our new local online store! This was a labor of love from the AIS Board to our members.
Your purchase of literature from our new online store will help support AIS. Al Anon Information Services provide information about Al-Anon to the groups and to those who may wish to know more about us. Without AIS, there would be no local literature distribution, phone service, website, or other ways to share Al-Anon information with those who might need it.
There are a couple of things we will need to point out regarding the new online store.
1. You may have your order shipped to you or you can choose to pick up your order at the LDC. Unfortunately, because of Covid, we want to maintain the health and safety of both our LDC volunteers and our members. So we have developed a system where you order your books online, and if you choose to pick them up locally at the LDC, we are asking that you make an appointment for your pickup time. This will limit contact for all parties. You may make an appointment in 15-minute increments to pick up your order by scheduling through this link. (You do not have to remember this link. The link will be on the checkout page and invoice.) https://calendly.
2. Until further notice, the LDC will be closed for walk-ins. The only way you can make a purchase is via the online store or mail in the order form which you can find under the Literature tab of the website.
3. There will be no availability on Thursdays in December to pick up your orders. We will be open both Mondays and Thursdays starting in January.
We are so excited about finally being able to bring this to the community! We hope you are just as excited as we are.
We ask for any feedback you have regarding the online store or the website by sending an email to email@example.com.
We also ask for your patience while we work out the kinks in the system. This is a new experience for most of us.
