2020 Area 52 Convention

The 2020 Tennessee Area 52 Al-Anon/Alateen Convention

Cancellation Notice – 2020 Tennessee Area Al-Anon/Alateen Convention

It is with heavy hearts that the 2020 Tennessee Area Convention Planning Committee members announce the decision to cancel the 2020 Tennessee Area Al-Anon/Alateen Convention.

Due to the continued uncertainty caused by the current public health crisis, and the risks and complications associated with Covid-19, the Planning Committee considered several alternatives before reaching the difficult decision to cancel the event currently scheduled for July 31st – August 2nd this year.  We feel it is in the best interest of all members of our recovery community (Al-Anon, Alateen and AA) to cancel the Convention and pass the baton to the Middle Tennessee Convention Planning Committee for next year’s Area Convention.

If you have already pre-registered for this year’s Convention, you should hear from our Registration Chairperson in the next few weeks.

The Planning Committee will proceed to wrap up all other activities associated with this year’s Convention, and file our final report with the AWSC prior to the 2020 Fall AWSC, per our Area Guidelines.

The Planning Committee would like to thank you all for your love and continued support, and we hope to see you in Middle Tennessee in 2021.

Watch for local events to support the 2021 Tennessee Area Al-Anon/Alateen Convention, coming to a venue near you as soon as we can gather again!

For over 40 years, the Al-Anon family groups and Alateen groups in Area 52 have been presenting the Tennessee Area 52 Al-Anon/Alateen Convention (with AA participation). This is a weekend full of workshops, Al-Anon meetings, speaker meetings and time for fellowship activities. The Convention is held at different locations around the State so that attendance is convenient for all members.

The Convention starts at 4:00 PM Friday afternoon with registration, meetings, a speaker, and late night entertainment. Saturday has speakers, workshops, a banquet, and the Recovery Repertory Theatre. Sunday finishes up with more meetings, a spiritual speaker and Silent Auction winners announcement. You can attend for a day or the entire weekend. The Convention Program will be posted soon.
